After James died, we didn't take but a few pictures for quite a long time. In fact, I hardly remember much at all about this summer. We had planned for a long time to take a vacation to Hawaii with my sister Ruthanne, brother-in-law Scott, and their family at the end of June. We decided it would be best to go. We felt the boys needed to be in a different place for a time, and being around their cousins is always good for them. They were so kind to us. We were all so very sad. It is poignant to see John in this photo... trying so hard to put on a brave face, for the boys. He has done just that so many times. Here we are in Hawaii...

We made it through this time with a great deal of help and love, both from our Father in Heaven, and from many around us who gave us so much love, empathy, and kindness.
