{ChiNa: MaY 22,2006...LiBby's FirSt DaY wiTh Us}

We took the babies outside, and climbed onto the bus. Libby was so frightened. She quivered like a baby bird that had just been taken from her nest, but she didn't cry. I held her so tight! The bus stopped at Walmart, and we were instructed to gather some baby things (formula, etc.) This was tricky! (Of course, everything was in Chinese) We made our way through the store and back to the bus. We arrived at the hotel, hurried up to our room, and began to get to know Libby! I sat her on my lap, and we looked at a picture book. She was entranced. We gave her a bath, which made her smile for the first time....

And then we changed her into a dress...

We were amazed at how curious and fearless she seemed after such a short time with us! Oh my goodness, we just loved her so much already!!! After seeing her referral photos, John, (who is a doctor, & had diagnosed this condition before), had prepared me that it was possible that Libby might have a skull condition called sagital craniosynostosis. He knew immediately when he felt her head, that he had been right. He was painfully aware of what she might have to endure to correct this condition, which, if severe, can cause blindness or other suffering. It was so hard to think about, looking at her sweet little face. I could hardly even bear the thought.
Libby just seemed to blossom right before our eyes! She was, from the very beginning, so easy to love. So funny, smart, and engaging. So adaptable... and so happy.

She has always had the most beautiful eyes! Anna hated the bath and just screamed until she took a bath at our house.
